OPTIMISING YOUR WEBSITE CONTENT

On-page SEO

Improving your site content to climb the search rankings.

What is on-page SEO?

On-page SEO is all about optimising the content on your website to improve your ranking and visibility on Google for keywords related to the services you offer as a business. This includes the pages you have on your website, how these pages are structured, the content on these pages, headings, internal links, meta tags, and image alt text.

What are the benefits of on-page SEO?

Getting on-page SEO right (and working with your off-page technical SEO) will lead to more relevant traffic to your website and more enquiries from potential customers. Note that we say ‘more relevant’ traffic to your website instead of ‘more’ traffic. More traffic for the sake of more traffic won’t necessarily lead to more potential customers if the keywords the website visitors have used to find your site aren’t relevant to the services you offer.

When done correctly, on-page SEO, particularly clear navigation, good signposting, and easily understood headers, also contributes to a better user experience. A better user experience means potential customers are more likely to stay on your website, learn more about your business, and be informed when they contact you with an inquiry.

Why should I hire Guidance Digital to improve my on-page SEO?

Here at Guidance Digital, our Bristol team of web designers and marketers specialise in developing local SEO strategies for our clients that work. On-page SEO is a big part of this.

Competitor Research

We start any SEO project by completing a competitive analysis. We look at which search terms related to the services you offer are being searched for most online. For this, we use Google’s keyword analysis tool to see how competitive different search terms are.

Once we’ve identified the search terms most relevant to your services, we look at your competitors, who are already ranking and highly visible on Google for these terms.

Competitor research includes looking at stats on:

– How long their website has been live
– How many pages their website has
– Keyword density on their homepage and the other key pages on their website
– How many backlinks they have
– Their domain authority

Service Pages

Once we’ve done this, we’ll build dedicated pages for your business’s services. This will give Google more in-depth information about your business and how you service your customers.

About Us Section

Next, we look at building out the About Us section of your website. This typically includes a dedicated page for your values, qualifications, and any industry bodies or associations your business belongs to. An About Us section helps signal your legitimacy as a business to Google.

Projects

We then look to create pages for recent projects that you’ve completed. Project pages show both Google and potential customers visiting your website and real-world examples of work and projects you’ve completed for other clients.
