Network Ryde

A new website for an inclusive youth service on the Isle of Wight.

We were delighted to partner with Network Ryde, Ryde Town Council’s award-winning and inclusive youth service for young people to help them build their new website. Their goal was to create a functional one-page website that kept the young people they serve up-to-date on their latest events and activities.

In this case study, we’ll explore three key features that made this project a success:
> Integrated timetable that can be updated
> Integrated social media feed
> Google Map integration and what3words

 WHAT’S GOING ON

1. Integrated Timetable

The website features an integrated timetable powered by the Timetable and Event Schedule plugin. This can be easily updated, ensuring visitors always have access to the latest events, sessions, and activities. This dynamic functionality makes it simple for staff to manage updates and ensures the community never misses a thing.

Why It Matters:

Having an up-to-date timetable is crucial for ensuring the young people using Network Ryde and their families can easily plan their visits. It simplifies the process of discovering activities, fostering better engagement with the community.

Implementation Details:

We created a user-friendly, easily editable timetable using the Timetable and Event Schedule plugin. We also created a video tutorial for staff showing them how they can quickly update the timetable without needing any specialist technical knowledge. This helps ensure the site always reflects the latest Network Ryde schedule.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO?

2. Integrated Social Media Feed

To keep visitors connected and informed, we added an integrated social media feed to the website powered by the Smash Balloon Instagram Feed plugin. This feature pulls live updates directly from their social channels, providing a seamless way to share news, announcements, and highlights with their audience – all in one place.

Why It Matters:

Social media is a key tool for Network Ryde to communicate with their audience in real-time. By embedding the feed, we ensure visitors can see the latest updates without having to leave the website.

Implementation Details:

The plugin was simple enough to install and configure in a format that matched the styling of the website. However, due a recent change to Smash Balloon’s usage policy, the team at Network Ryde were required to make their Instagram account a business account.

WHERE ARE YOU

3. Google Map and what3words Integration

We wanted to make it as easy as possible for users of Network Ryde to find the youth service’s new location. We did this by combining the powerful navigation tools of Google Maps with the precise location capabilities of what3words. This ensures visitors can pinpoint Network Ryde’s new location with ease.

Why It Matters:

Accurate navigation is essential for first-time visitors and parents dropping off young people. The addition of what3words provides an extra layer of precision, ensuring no one gets lost.

Implementation Details:

We embedded Google Maps directly into the site alongside what3words functionality. This combination allows users to view the venue’s location on a map and get a precise three-word address for ultimate clarity.
